Content Objective: Students will identify their culture and select literature that is meaningful to their culture.
Language Objective: Students will read at least one piece of literature selected from the website.
Students will write and create a “One Pager” to make connections to the text.
Vocabulary: culture, literature
Delivery:
1. Students will discuss vocabulary in small groups and give examples of culture with each other.
2. Students will report back to whole group to confirm definitions.
3. Students will search website and find three books or stories that they are interested in reading. They must complete a reflection referring to the summaries of each story and explain why they are interested in reading theses stories. (text will be approved by instructor for appropriate reading level.)
4. Upon completing reading, students will complete a “One Pager”. This includes: Copying two excerpts from text that are significant; write a connection to the selected excerpts; create a graphic symbol regarding the symbols; and the title and author must be included.
5. Students can post their connection online and post a book critique.
6. Students will analyze culture literature through Questions and Answer relationships.

Assessment: The written assignment will be assessed with a rubric and students will present products and do a gallery walk.
Students will use Google.docs to write and edit documents

Research:
Students will use the Internet tools to gather information.
